Who are we?

We are the Bristol Suspensions, and we need YOUR help to take our new show, ‘Ten Things I Sung About You’, to the Edinburgh Fringe. Following our International win in Italy (2024), and recent success as UK Semi-Final Champions (2025), we are raising money to take our award-winning set, along with our repertoire from the year and a brand new script, to the festival. With your support we hope to make this dream a reality!

✅ Student community: For many in the group, performing and being part of Suspensions has been the highlight of our university experience. Providing a family away from home, and a community that we can always go back to, performing at the festival is a wonderful way for us to end the year together and say goodbye to our leavers!

✅ Student creativity: We are fully student-led and student-funded! The creativity in the tracks is that of our members. Winning: Outstanding Arrangement (Record Player) and Outstanding Soloist (Katie Evans - Vampire and Isabel Fraser - Lose Control).

✅ Student careers: Fringe gives the opportunity for members to perform professionally. This is invaluable for all members, however is particularly enriching for those advancing into careers in music. They will have the opportunity to work with professional sound technicians, in a professional venue with a paying audience. It is also an incredible experience for our scriptwriters, who also aim for creative careers.

Where will the money go?

We are looking to raise £1,550.

Our total production cost is £2,500, which can be broken down as follows:

• Cost of venue: £614. This is the upfront cost for 2 weeks performing with Gilded Balloon.
• Subsidising members accommodation cost: £1,286. The cost per member to stay at The Fringe for 2 weeks is £600.
• Marketing materials: £600. Handing our flyers is the main way that we get our show out there and encourage an audience to come and see us perform

We have already secured £650 of funding, with our members covering £300 of costs personally. You generosity will help us meet our funding shortfall and ensure our show is a success.   

The first £500 we raise will be doubled by generous alumni match funding from the University of Bristol, so your support will go even further!

what will we do if we raise more money than expected

1. You genersoity will mean we can purchase T Shirts to wear on the mile to promote our show further, as well as some A2 posters! It would be fantastic to expand the marketing budget to ensure we get the biggest crowds possible at our show!

2. We would use any extra money to cover the costs we anticipate to cover through member loans.

A PREVIEW of our show - Ten Things I Sung About You! 

Friday 23rd May 2pm - To be held in the Bristol SU, we will be requesting a £4 donation for audience members to watch the first live performance of our show. This will be a very accessible way for students not going to the Fringe to see what we have created! At our preview, we will hold a merch sale and an auction.
