UBTRC are asking for donations to help take us to the University Touch Championships
Last year we entered two teams for the first time – with both teams playing amazingly – and hope to be able to do the same this year. With your help, we are aiming to raise £500 through donations.
Who are we?
We are the University of Bristol Touch Rugby Club! As one of Bristol’s most enthusiastic, inclusive and welcoming sports societies, we provide students with the opportunity to learn about and participate in playing touch rugby. Regardless of ability, we welcome all players to come join us.
Many of our players had never played touch rugby or even heard of it before coming to university, and have found a great community to play with, with UBTRC. Every year, we compete at the University Touch Championships and aim to take as many of our players who wish to play competitively as possible.
Our story
The University Touch Championships (UTCs) are the BUCS championships for Touch Rugby and cost £200 to enter per team. In the aims of making our club and sport as accessible to as many people as possible, the club aims to cover this cost. However, in providing our players with new opportunities this year, this cost has become more difficult to finance and we need your support to help us do so!
The UTCs provide a great experience for our players to play touch nationally at a competitive level. Players’ confidence in themselves and their team often grows immensely after the UTCs. Every UTC we attend provides every player with a great experience. Whether that is achieved through bonding with other players, taking a day away from the stress of university and everyday life, or just getting to play some great, competitive touch rugby!
Your support will greatly benefit our club and take away the worries we have about whether we will be able to take everyone who wishes to play. Previous members who have taken part have often said that UTCs have been among their favourite memories at university, so we do not want a single person within our club to miss out on such a great experience!
Where will the money go?
- Every donation made is guaranteed to have a great impact on our club.
- If we hit our minimum target, this will allow us to cover part of cost of paying to enter our teams for the University Touch Championships this year and provide every member of a club with a great and memorable experience.
- If we hit our full target, we will be able to pay to enter both of our amazing teams and will also be able to subsidise the cost of transport to the UTCs therefore taking more of the financial pressure off our members.
- If we manage to exceed our target, we will be able to put money towards more equipment and kit that is so important for us as our club grows and we welcome new members.
- Once we have finished this crowdfunding campaign, we look forward to sharing exciting updates from all the UTCs we attend this year with both of our teams!
