A short summary of our project
We are raising money to put towards the production of our Graduate Short Film named 'In Solitude’'.
Our logline for this film is: 'In a barren, post apocalyptic countryside, a hardy elderly woman's quaint and lonely life is interrupted when she finds a young boy with one eye burned shut and the other with cataracts hiding in her barn. After finding an initial bond their trust in one another is broken. They must rebuild their relationship for the sake of his survival and her loneliness.' This film will explore the themes of family, motherhood, grief, loneliness and love. We will be submitting this as our final film for our Film and Television course at the University of Bristol, and we hope to submit this to multiple film festivals and competitions in the future! We're extremely passionate about this project, and we aim to make it as beautiful and inspiring as possible.our story
We are shooting a film that captures the importance of motherhood, human company and love with a dystopian setting as the story's background noise.
Motherhood is so valuable and underrepresented in film, we believe telling the story about the relationship between an older woman and a younger boy in a beautiful setting such as the English countryside will be so effective in spreading an important message about love.
Supporting a student film, and the next generation of young filmmakers, will be so important in keeping the art of filmmaking alive. With donations from the public we will be able to effectively tell our story and achieve a beautiful look for our film's set and cinematography, as well as maintain our actors and crew wellbeing.
Where will the money go?
We will use the funds to purchase props such as a shotgun, a vintage radio and other set dressing elements; logistical considerations such as transport and catering will help ensure the crew and cast are always comfortable throughout the shoot. We are also hoping to be able to rent some extra filming equipment such as specialty lenses and a gimbal; having access to extra equipment can make such an exciting difference to the look of the film. We will also need to put some of our funding towards makeup and costume. Any extra funds will be used towards compensating our actors.
We'll update our contributors every 2 weeks with the progress of our project with an update post on all of our social platforms as well as a fun, cheeky picture of the crew at work or a teaser of original concept art.

Who are WE?
Our writer and director, Madalena Larkin, is keen to tell impactful stories through filmmaking and has wanted to develop the idea for this film since she was 17. Like the great leader she is, she is the heart of this group and holds us together with her infectious energy. She is so excited to make this film and is confident that it'll culminate in a production of which we will all be proud!
Anouk Griffiths is one of our camera wizards! She has an eye for beauty in every little detail and brings limitless positivity to our production meetings. She is a keen cinematographer who grew up in Wiltshire with a passion for filmmaking. Her mother is a huge part of her life, and the sole reason she got into filmmaking, so she is so keen to tell a beautiful story about motherhood through the art of film.
Alie Jalandoni handles a lot of the admin and production documents as well as social media platforms for this project as well as being this projects Art director. Their passion to visualise and transfer ideas from paper onto screen was fuelled by great creators such as Hayao Miyazaki and The Daniels. Their quirky demeanour and unique artistic perspective gives our group an extra layer to complement our dynamic.
Ruby Stickley is a passionate creative director and cinematographer! Throughout her life she has loved to capture all things beautiful and in this film hopes to capture the underrepresented charm of the British countryside! She is one of our designated drivers (alongside Anouk) within the group, taking us on healing journeys across the refreshing countryside for RECCE’s and just for an adventure.
Fraser McAdden is a talented director and award-winning writer working on our project as our producer and assistant director. Being well experienced in all areas of the filmmaking process he is our go to for that extra bit of support on anything we struggle with. His strong desire to capture the organic and nostalgic beauty of the British countryside is inspiring and the energy he brings onto set is so invigorating that it can power anyone through a long shoot.
