The UNHCR estimates that more than 100 million people have now been forced to flee their homes globally. Many amazing charities are helping those people in the short term. At the University of Bristol, we're looking at how we can support refugee and asylum-seeking individuals in the long-term, by providing financial support to their studies.

Students from refugee backgrounds often don't have the networks to support their studies and students with asylum-seeking status are prohibited from applying for student finance. These barriers can make accessing higher education extremely difficult.

In these incredible turbulent times, it's vital that we come together to support forcibly displaced people and it's become more apparent that programmes like Sanctuary Scholarships will face growing demand. How will my gift help?
Thanks to the generosity of alumni, friends and staff, 60 life-changing Sanctuary Scholarships have been awarded since 2016 and we've made 16 offers this year; the largest number we've ever made. With your help, we'll be able to expand the number of students we support in the years to come.
