WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ACHIEVE?

Shakespeare Society are raising money to make our November show as amazing as we possibly can! This is very important to us as a young society (we were only set up 3 years ago!!) - putting on a show in an external venue is a big feat and we don't have the same level of funds as other performing arts societies do, but we want to give our members the best opportunities we possibly can.

Who are WE?

Shakespeare society are dedicated to putting on as much Shakespeare as humanly possible! We focus on making his works accessible and fun so everybody can get involved!

our story

We are raising funds to put on a show in November at the Cotham Parish Church. As we are using an external venue, this show comes with a lot more costs than a show within the university's buildings would. With this in mind, we are raising funds to help us put on this show. 

Using an external venue has a huge amount of benefits. Although anyone can watch our shows, holding it in a building outside of the university means that the wider Bristol community can feel more included and welcome to come and watch the show, allow more people to experience Shakespeare!

Cotham Parish Church is also a unique venue, being the perfect middle size between the two theatres available to us at the university. This means that as a smaller society the fear of trying to sell 200 seats every night is alleviated, but we can still advertise the show outside of the university to accommodate a large audience.

If you donate, you'd be creating an opportunity for so many people, including our committee, our members and the general public, to experience some amazing Shakespeare in a unique venue.

Where will the money go?

• Venue hire: £650 
• Marketing costs: £100
• Set, props and costumes: £50/£100
• Anything else raised will go directly into ShaxSoc, helping us grow!
